What's the difference between a logo and a brand?

Your logo is one part of your brand, more specifically the brand identity.

Your brand is everything else - the strategy, the positioning, the messaging, the audience, the colour palette, the typography, the tone of voice, the way everything looks and feels across every single touchpoint.

A logo without a brand underneath it is just decoration.
A brand built on strategy is a commercial asset that attracts the right clients, supports premium pricing and does the selling before you've said a word.

We come across clients every week that have been quoted on 'brand' and there is no strategy piece mentioned whatsoever - these are the same clients that never hit the goals they're chasing, because they've received a visual with no thought behind it.

How much do you charge for brand projects?

And as much as we hate to be vague, it all really depends on scope, what's included, the complexity of the brand you're building and the deliverables required.

Every one of our projects begins with a conversation. We want to know where you're at now, what's working, what isn't and where you want to be before we even attempt to price.
It means the process takes a little longer yes, but it also means we're not just guessing at what you need, or sending out a "questionnaire" for you to fill in.

All we ask is that you don't consider this as a cost - but rather, think about what it's costing you not to take action.
Every month your brand undersells you, you're losing clients, proposals and revenue to competitors who already took the plunge.

For those conscious about cash flow, don't stress! We offer all of our clients the opportunity to split down their investment into either 1, 2 or 4 installments.

We appreciate the honesty - and we'll give you some back.

We don't discount our projects. Not because we're inflexible, but because the price reflects the work - the strategy, the thinking, the time, and most importantly - the commercial outcome it's designed to deliver. Reducing the investment means reducing what goes into it, and that's not something we're willing to do. Every client deserves the full version.

We only take on 10 brand projects a year, saying yes to one with a reduced cost, takes that time away from saying yes to someone willing to pay what we charge.

What we would say is this - a limited budget is a completely valid reality and it's worth having an honest conversation about timing.
Sometimes the right answer is to wait until the investment is comfortable rather than rushing into something at the wrong level.
Sometimes there are other services that we can look at offering you in the mean time.

What's worth thinking about though is the cost of not investing.
Every month your brand isn't working properly is another month of attracting the wrong clients, losing proposals to competitors who look more credible and undercharging for work that deserves more. That has a cost too - it's just harder to see on a spreadsheet.

We do offer payment plans - if you've seen above, our standard payment plans involved a 1, 2 or 4 installment process. For those with limited budget, we do offer spreading the investment across a longer period to make it more manageable (ie, 6-12 months). However, with this option - we do require enough accumulated funds before we begin work, which typically means projects on extended payment plans start around 3-4 months from the initial agreement. If that works for your timeline, it's absolutely worth a conversation.

How long does a brand project take?

Most brand projects run between 4 and 8 weeks from start to finish.

We'd love to promise the classic "4 week sprint" but from real lived experience - unless both parties are sat by the screen awaiting each others emails, it just doesn't happen like that.

BUT, you can be confident there will be no months of back and forth, just a focused, structured process with clear stages, momentum and a defined end point. You'll know exactly where you are at every stage and what's coming next as we send out weekly updates to all our clients.

And as previously mentioned, we only take on a maximum of 10 brand projects a year, so you can rest assured knowing that your project will get the priority and attention it needs.

What will a brand project get me?

A rebrand with Genesis Creative is a complete overhaul of how your business shows up - built in three distinct stages, each one as important as the last.

Brand Strategy - Before a single visual decision is made, we get under the skin of your business. Who your ideal client actually is. Where you sit in your market. What makes you genuinely different. What your brand needs to say and how it needs to feel to attract the right people at the right price. Strategy is the foundation. Everything built without it is guesswork.

Brand Identity - Once the strategy is in place, we bring it to life visually. Your logo system, colour palette, typography, imagery direction and graphic elements - every visual decision made deliberately, rooted in the strategy and designed to speak directly to the clients you actually want.

Brand Guidelines - Everything we build is delivered with a comprehensive brand guidelines document - the single source of truth for your brand. How everything is used, applied and maintained across every touchpoint. Consistent brands are 3.5 times more visible than inconsistent ones. Guidelines are what make consistency possible.

Dedicated, Specialist Team - We only take on a maximum of 10 brand projects a year - because it's the only way every client gets what they actually deserve. Direct access, no handoffs, no watered-down service. Just focused, specialist work with your project treated as the priority it should be.

What does the process look like for a brand project?

We operate slightly differently here at Genesis. In the chaos that is the digital world today, we prioritise human conversation - always.

So here's our process from start to finish;
1. You submit your enquiry
2. We have a Discovery Call
- 30 minutes, we find out where you're at, what's working, what isn't and exactly where you want to be
3. We have a Proposal Call
- 30 minutes, we recap business challenges, talk through the proposal, the what, how and why, and give you opportunity to ask questions
4. Onboarding
- T&Cs signed, deposit paid, Strategy Session booked in
5. Strategy Session
- 60 minutes, we deep dive into everything we need to know - your goals, your offering, who it's for, why they need it, your values, competitors - everything. We leave no stone unturned.
6. Brand Strategy write up
- We get your strategy into place, competitor analysis, target audience, goals, values, tone of voice, positioning. This part is amended and finalised before any design begins.
7. Marketing Strategy presented
- Our marketing specialist will present you with a marketing strategy, things we recommend you prioritise from a marketing perspective following working with us to continue the momentum. Of course, we also present ways to continue working with us at this point also, but whether you choose to action things yourself or with an in-house team, this strategy will ensure you don't leave us with your new brand and no idea where to take it next!
8. Brand Identity
- This is where the fun begins! We will send over visual concepts for you to consider. Not just logo, but fonts, colours and a few "real-life" examples to show how your brand would look in the real-world.
9. Brand Guidelines
- We put all your strategy and identity information into one organsed document. This is to be used and shared across your business to ensure alignment and consistency - always.
10. If relevant - we get to work on next stages of design (e.g. Websites, brochures, pitchdecks etc)
11. Offboarding
- All files and documents are released and shared. We give all our clients a shared Google Drive folder where everything will always be should they need to access it. We also have a last 30 minute call to go through everything. What files have been provided, when best to use them, who they're for and opportunity to ask any final questions. This call is also recorded, so if you have questions or forget anything discussed, you can always watch it back at a later date!

Is a brand project the only way to work with you?

Not at all. A full brand project is where we do our most transformational work - but we understand it isn't always the right starting point for every business.

If your brand is in good shape but you're in need of ongoing design support, we offer monthly retainers starting from £250pm - that give you priority access, fast turnaround times and a studio that already understands your brand.

As we're a small specialist studio, we only take on 10 brand projects a year, it also means we also have limited space for our retainer slots.
This exclusivity ensures we never have issues with turn-around times or communication across any of our clients.

We also take on one-off graphic design projects, web design services and marketing strategy.

Do I need a full rebrand or just a refresh?

That depends on where your brand currently is and the honest answer isn't always a full rebrand.
Sometimes the foundations are solid and the gaps are specific. That's exactly what our mini brand audit was designed to identify. It's a quick review of your existing brand that usually highlights where the gaps are.

I've had a bad experience with a designer before. How is this different?
